Electric motors, steel needles, porcelain plates
2000
An artistic installation in which some 15 small electric motors spin steel needles ranging from
160cm up to 2m high where some porcelain plates turn in a precarious balance.
In this cosmology of revolving plates, if one of them loses its centre of equilibrium it falls precipitously to the void, breaking when it reaches the ground, destroying the circular perfection . The perception of the precarious general equilibrium, the unpredictability, the always changing repetition of unstable elements that create a hypnotic effect that contrasts with the playful atmosphere evoked by the circus. The dishes are containers, limits that
define themselves an inside and an outside, could be understood as metaphors of being.
