Much of my artistic work revolves around the concept of the limit as a dividing line that separates the inside from the outside.
Limits construct; they make it possible to inhabit a space where there was previously none.
Thus, right from the start, I felt strongly drawn to containers, which I understood as metaphors for being. The significance lay in the way these boundaries were constructed or deconstructed.
I have often represented the difference between being (inside) and non-being (outside) through containers which (by dissolving, breaking after spinning in precarious balance, sinking, burying themselves, inflating or deflating) ultimately become part of the whole, inscribed within the eternal cycles that life produces.
This is an artistic intuition, for many of my works, without intending to, move in a direction whereby there is little difference between the interior and the exterior (separated by that subtle membrane we call being). We are the echo of the exterior, and we are constantly constructing what lies outside
